Everyone wants to protect the things that are closest to their hearts.  Quite literally in the case of Welsh crooner Tom Jones, who has reportedly insured his cherished chest hair for the extraordinary sum of $7 million dollars. Quite an achievement for 'the boy from nowhere'.

And he's not alone. Other celebrities have famously chosen to insure their talent, or their most prominent physical features, against all sorts of wear and tear. Tina Turner's legs, Ken Dodd's teeth and David Beckham's lower limbs have all been insured against career-wrecking catastrophe.  Even a certain Mr. Basil Brush Esquire has joined the ranks of the incredibly well-insured after his owners took out a £1 million policy against 'permanent and total damage to his tail'.

But you don't have to be rich, famous or even foxy to worry about the worst happening. In fact, even businesses are finding that these days, it pays to be prepared for any eventuality.
